Tour Introduction:
Overland Tour in Tibet
offers an insight into the historical and cultural wonders of ancient Tibet.

Heinrich Harrer gave the first encounter of Tibet in his auto-bio "Seven Years in Tibet." Centuries of isolation and the lifestyle of inhabitants dating back millenniums makes it a most "desired place to be" in the bucket list of travelers.

This tour is designed for a group. We would have tourist from different countries thus peoples take this tour as an opportunity to meet and interact with the peoples of the country where they have never been. From single to a couple, anyone can join this tour. Starting from Kathmandu and conceding at Lhasa, this overland tour passes over the Tibetan Himalayas through Kerung Border that connects Nepal with Tibet, China.

You can enjoy the fabulous mountain sceneries en route, visit mystical Buddhist monasteries of Tashilhunpo at Shigatse, the Kumbum Stupa at Gyantse, and drive past the beautiful Yamdrok Tso Lake (Turquoise Lake). In Lhasa, once can visit the famous Potala Palace and Norbulingka, the great Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and walk through the bustling Barkhor Bazaar.

The sightings of Mt. Everest (8848m/29,028ft) and Makalu (8,481m/27,825ft) seen from the Lalung La pass (5,082m/16,670ft) are the highlights of the trek.

Mount Kailash, considered Holy by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains alike, is located in the westernmost region of Tibet. Every year, thousands of devotees make a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. Predominantly believed by Hindus, the Hindu God Shiva resides at the summit of the mountain. We do also have pilgrimage tour to Mt. Kailash & Mansarovar-12 Days for interested individuals.

This tour itinerary provided here is a standard itinerary prepared in a group departure basis and this trip departs at every Saturday from Kathmandu. In this group tour, we will have minimum of 10 to 20 peoples in one group and will have peoples from different country in the world. Rooms plan at this tour is in twin share, but single room supplement is available at the cost of US$- 300 additional. In addition, you could also customize your own itinerary for this tour with your timeline and interest and we will be very pleased to customize this tour to your exact requirement, suggestion.


Private Tour!
If you wish to have private tour for this Tibet Overland Tour, we need a minimum of 2 peoples for private tour and will be able to depart you to this tour at private basis at every day. But the cost of the private tour will be expensive then group tour cost suggested. In addition, if your group will be minimum of 4 to 6 peoples, but want to have a private tour to your own group only, also feel very free to request us and we will organize private tour to your group only.

Also note that our trip leader deserved the final decision if the trip has to amend, change the route or cancel due to the extreme conditions for the safety precaution. However, he will try his best to ensure that the trip runs as according to the stated plan but be prepared for flexibility if necessary.

Day 01Kathmandu- Kerung Altitude: 2800m/9194ft- 165Km Drive (8-9 Hours) Meals: B/L/D

Early in the Morning scenic drive to Kerung Border Nepal Tibet Border through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepali immigration and cross the bridge process for all necessary formalities in Chinese immigration continue drive to Kerung Town. Stay Overnight at Guest House.

After Breakfast drive uphill to the height plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling of standing of the roof of the world from where weather permitting, breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and Mt.Xishapangma (8,012m) on the way see to Pikucho lake. 

Today, you have a great landscapes and views of the Himalayas. O/N at Kerung Town.

After Breakfast continue drive scenic crossing over Gyatchu La(5,220m),the highest pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt.Kailash Bifurcates to the west. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04Shigatse Altitude3,900m Gyantse Altitude 3,950m 90Km-  04 -05 Hours Drive Meals: B/L/D

After Breakfast Morning Sightseeing to the Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu Monastery. Drive to Gyantse and visit Kumbum Stupa and Phalkhor Monastery. Stay Overnight at Hotel.

Day 05Gyantse  Altitude 3,950m Lhasa Altitude 3,650m 261 Km 05 -06 Hours Drive Meals: B/L/D

After Breakfast full day picturesque drive crossing over Karola(5,010m),Kambala(4,749m),Colorful Yamdrok- Tso Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Brahma Putra (Yarlung Tsangpo).Stay Overnight at Hotel.

Day 06 & day 07Sightseeing Days in Lhasa Altitude 3,600m Meals: B/L/D

These two days, you will have full days sightseeing tour to Lhasa including Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazar,Potala Palace, Drepung and Sera Monasteries . Overnight at Hotel in Lhasa.

Day 07Lhasa to Kathmandu or Main Land China Meals: B/L/D

After Breakfast drive to Gonggar Airport or Train Station for your departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward destination

Your tour Guide is Tibetan Certified Guide. He is in good communicate English, knows the places you would visit and make a special look after throughout the trip.
 
 
Health & Altitude Problems
Traveling in Tibet involves high altitude and can be strenuous. Clients with heart and lung problems or blood diseases should consult their doctor before booking the trip. Very rare cases of altitude sickness have been reported. Simple headache; fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders can happen before the acclimatization. Some advice: drink approx. 3 liters of water per day, do not strain yourself, move slowly, breathe deeply and take regular rests.
 

Customs & Airport
There is no prohibition on still and video cameras, tape recorders or radios as long as they are registered with a custom official. Printed matters considered unsuitable by the Chinese Government are prohibited, Customs regulations forbid the ex- port of art objects created prior to 1959 or souvenirs in amounts deemed to be excessive. There is only one airport in Tibet and only one international flight to Kathmandu, Nepal is in operation.

Clothing & Equipments
From Oct. to March warm clothes are required due to cold and from April to September only light clothes will be enough. However, a jacket and a sweater are advised throughout the year as the weather may unexpectedly change at any time.



Meals & Accommodations
This tour is based with bed (accommodation) and breakfast basis only you have to look after your lunch and evening meals by yourself. Even though, there are many Chinese/Tibetan restaurants in Zhangmu, Nyalam and Shegar, foods are comparatively poor but foods at Sighatse, Gyantse and Lhasa are very nice and you can have your choice of food with your own taste.



Your accommodations will be provided a twin share room.  During your tour we will use Kyichu Hotel or similar hotel in Lhasa, Gyantse Hotel or similar hotel in Gyantse, Wutse Grand Hotel or Manasarover Hotel in Xigatse, Shanghai hotel or similor hotel in Lhatse and guest house in guest house in Kerung. Single room supplement will be charge US$-200.
