TREKKING SEASONS:
We do have two best seasons to attempt this trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill. As this trip is a big trip to you, we always suggest you to come at the right time of the year as far as possible.

Spring: - (March, April, May) - Best warmest time to trek. Rhododendron flowers in bloom- excellent trails and clear skies, best visibility. Good Temperature, warmest weather of the year.

Autumn: - (Mid September, October and November) - excellent trails, clear blue skies, best visibility.

Winter months: - (December, January and February) are also good, but it’s obviously colder. You have to be prepared for this. It is up to you to plan this trek at this cold time or not.

Summer: - Monsoon, so rain and visibility can be a big issue (from Mid June, July and August). But trekking can be done without any hesitation. Bring your raincoat.

MOUNTAIN WEATHER:
The weather conditions in the mountains are notoriously difficult to predict. During the day it can be nice and warm and the nights are generally always cooler. The weather you will experience on Annapurna Panorama is simply extreme and rather unpredictable so it is best to be prepared for all eventualities. Temperature during the trek to Annapurna Panorama, the expected temperature during a day is from 10- 20 degree Celsius during the monsoon and spring months and 5 to 15 degree Celsius during the autumn months. The nights can fall into 0 to -2. However, above given chats of temperature are the expected but temperature can be different as per the everyday weather conditions of the mountain so it is unpredictable. Expect the unexpected!

ACCLIMATIZATION:
There is no way to prepare for altitude other than to spend time at altitude. Being in very good physical condition will help ameliorate some of the exhaustion that people often feel, but it will not prevent altitude caused medical problems such as Acute Mountain Sickness. This itinerary was designed with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) in mind and to ensure a comfortable and safe adventure trek in the Himalayas. Staying well hydrated and getting plenty of rest may help. The maximum elevation of this trek will be reached at Poon Hill at altitude of 3,210m/ 10,528ft above sea level. Since this altitude range is a moderate of altitude, it is not considered a high-risk zone for AMS.

Communication Facilities on This Trek:
These days, there are enough communication facilities on this trek, most of the local villages has local telephone booth phone thus if required, you can easily communicate with your friends and family. Nowadays, during the clear days, reception of Nepalese cell phones is on throughout the trail, your guide will have Cell phone on the trip. At this trek, every place you will stay has a local telephone booth and local cell phone is working. At Ghorepani and Ghandruk, there are email and Internet facilities as well.

Bal Bahadur Tamang

Bal Bahadur Tamang was born in Solukhumbu. After completing his eighth grade, he left his village and went to Jiri to work as a porter. His first experience as a porter was to carry a big sack of rice from Jiri to Lukla. He has carried as heavy as 110 kg of load on his back as a porter.

After working as a porter for some years, he met a trek company owner in Lukla and started working for them as a porter. He was later afforded the opportunity to work as a guide. He took the opportunity with both hands. As a guide, his first assignment was to lead two Canadian trekkers and an Australian trekker to the Everest Base Camp.

At present, he lives with his family in Kathmandu. He has a 12 years old son and a 7 years old daughter. He is very fond of the mountains. So much so that as soon as a trek concludes, he cannot wait for the other to begin so that he can be around the mountains again.

his first assignment was a group of two trekkers from Canada and Australia whom he took to EBC…that being his first trip, it required him to ask a lot of questions to other fellow guides…he learnt a lot.

his family is now in Kathmandu….he has two kinds..a 12 yo son and a 7 yo daughter…and his wife…..when he is not on trek , all he does is wait for the next group to arrive so that he can go to the mountains.

He believes that it is important to give tourists a unique taste of places they visit- be it local animals or flora and fauna, celebrations or culinary experiences. He tries his best to always give the tourists a close view of the life in the Himalayas beyond just the majestic mountains.

We can say that booking a trek with Advanced Adventures was the best decision we ever made.

We can say that booking a trek with Advanced Adventures was the best decision we ever made.

We traveled in Nepal for the first time of our life, at 49 and 52 years old, on October 2013. Carole’s life dream was to trek to Everest Base Camp. So we looked up the internet and decided to book our trip with Advanced Adventures, a Nepal local company. We can say that it was the best decision we ever made. Chet, the executive director, was very patient and replied to all the e-mails and questions we had for him to prepare our trip.

When we arrived at the airport of Kathmandu, we were taken care of by the Advanced Adventures team. They came to get us at the airport to bring us at a very nice hotel. The meals were all included and we visited the city of Kathmandu the next day with a guide just for us. For dinner at night, Chet brought us to a restaurant for a welcome traditional meal.

But the real treat started on the second day. Our guide, Lok, came with us from the hotel to the airport to take the helicopter with us. We were lucky to have an helicopter instead of a plane he said. Probably we were lucky, but we found out during our trip that Advanced Adventures makes sure to give all the best to their clients. Our guide, Lok, was always taking care of us in all matters, from our security to our meals, teas, biscuits, lodges and we never had to pay anything more than the package we paid at the beginning. Our porter, Bisnu was also so wonderful to us. He would hurry to lodges with our heavy duffle bags, so he could come back to take our backpacks so we could climb more easily to our arrival point. We noticed during the trek that we were always getting a little more from Lok and Bisnu than  other clients were getting from their guides. When we came back to Kathmandu, we had a party dinner and when we asked Chet if we could bring with some friends we made on the trek, he said: ‘’Of course they can come’’!!!
We were so spoiled from Advanced Adventures that we recommend them to everybody who want to make sure they will get the best out of a trek in the Himalayas.

Thank you again to Chet, Lok and Bisnu who helped us realized this wonderful trip and accomplishment to reach the Everest Base Camp. They certainly have a nice place in our hearths for life.
