Trip Overview

A short trek in Bhutan, which is also one of the most popular treks in the tiny landlocked country, comprises exceptionally best Himalayan landscapes blended beautifully with blue pinewoods, elevated ridges, crystal clear lakes and the unexplored territories in tranquil remoteness. The trek also allows enough opportunities to sight Bhutan’s culturally rich ancient lhakhangs, dzongs and villages.

The Druk Path Trek is an easy trek as everyday walk during the trek is low elevated short hike and the highest point trek goes to is 4200m. Meant for trekkers with no prior trekking experience, the Druk Path Trek is based on camping accommodations and the guides accompanied by professional trekking cooks will show you the real Bhutan and serve you with delicious cuisines of foods respectively. The best times to undertake the Druk Path Trek are between March-June or September-November.

Day 01 Arrival and sightseeing in Paro
Altitude: 2,250m/7,382ft 
Activities: Sightseeing tour

As our flight nears Bhutan we can enjoy amazing views of the Himalayas. At the airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Advanced Adventures Nepal who will take you to your hotel. After refresh in hotel we will visit Rinpung Dzong which was built in 1646 and now houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag. After this we will also visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country and Drugyal Dzong, built in 1646 to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invaders during the 1600s. Overnight in Paro.

Day 02 Hike to Taktsang Monastery
Altitude: 3,180m/10,434ft
Activities: 4 to 5 hrs hike
Accommodation: Hotel in Paro
Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After your breakfast, today we hike for around 4 -5 hours to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan’s most famous monastery situated at 3,180 meters. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. We take Lunch in the Restaurant, located about halfway up on the mountain. The monastery is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, about 900 meters above Paro Valley. After exploring the monastery, we hike down to the valley. Overnight in Paro.

Day 03 Paro to Jele Dzong (Trek begins)
Altitude: 3,480m/11,418ft
Activities: 4-5 hrs walk around 10 km
Accommodation: Camping

After breakfast, we drive to the point where we start our trek to Jele Dzong). From here, we hike for a short while (around an hour) to the Dzong.  The trail ascends gently through a forest before reaching our campsite. The Jele Dzong is on top of the hill above the camp. We can see the Paro valley with snow-capped mountains as its back drop.  Jele Dzong was built in the 15th century, is mostly in ruins but there is a Lhakhang (Buddhist Temple) with the statute of Sakyamuni Buddha. Overnight camp at 3,300m.

Day 04 Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha
Altitude: 3,770m/12,369ft
Activities: 4-5 hrs walk around 10 km
Accommodation: Camping

Today after breakfast we start on about 2 hours of trekking. We begin with a gradual ascent (310m) then descend (50m). The trail passes through thick alpine and rhododendron forests and we reach at Jangchulakha.  We continue our walk for some time and arrive at the campsite offers scenic views of the amazing landscape. You can interact with the yak herders around our campsite.

Day 05 Jangchulakha to Langrithang
Altitude: 3,880m/12,730ft
Activities: 4-5 hrs walk around 15 km
Accommodation: Camping

As like previous day after breakfast we start trek; today we ascend 330m and descend 310m. The trail begins with a short climb and follows a ridge. From the top on a clear day, we get amazing views of the beautiful Mt. Jumolhari and other its range.  After a short descent, we arrive at Jimilangtsho Lake (3,700m) and we had our lunch here.  Then, the trail descends further down towards Langrithang through fir forests.  Overnight camp at 3,500m.

Day 06 Trek to Tsaluna (Trek ends) and drive to Thimphu
Altitude: 2,320m/7,612ft
Activities: 4 - 5 hrs walk around 11 km and drive
Accommodation: Hotel in Thimpu
Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Today our trail passes through fir and rhododendron forests and follows a stream before reaching the Tsaluna Monastery, a sacred site of Guru Rinpoche from 8th century.  Further down the trail is the Tsaluna Village with beautiful farms.  Our trek ends here and we drive to Thimphu. While there, we visit the King’s Memorial Chorten (built in memory of the third King of Bhutan who reigned from 1952-1972) and the majestic Tashichho Dzong. In the evening, we enjoy strolling in the streets of Thimphu and observe the local lifestyle. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 07 Final Departure from Bhutan
Meals: Breakfast

After early breakfast, today we bid farewell to the tiny Himalayan Kingdom and the friendly people. We drive from Thimphu to Paro airport. Druk Air generally departs in the early morning to avoid adverse weather conditions. Therefore, after taking breakfast, we will be taken to the airport in the morning for final departure.
