Mera Peak 6476m is the highest permitted trekking peak to climb in Nepal. Mera peak climbing trip unleashes an opportunity to all the experienced trekkers and amateur climbers who dream & dare to achieve the sensation of standing on the summit of Himalayan peak. Situated south of Everest dominating the watershed of the thickly wooded and remote Hinku valley, Mera Peak doesn't demand past climbing experience, as this is a non- technical trekking peak climbing in Nepal. During Mera Peak Climbing Adventure, we stay on the full supported tented camps, away from the teahouse crowd where our cook and kitchen staffs prepare all fresh and hygienic food.

Even though the Mera Peak climbing expedition is technically straightforward, there are some crevasses to manoeuvre around, and the route can be long and demanding after a fresh snowfall.

Highlights of Mera Peak Climbing

  • Rock Climbing course in Kathmandu prior to the climbing adventure, so that climbers can acquire necessary climbing skills and confidence to summit Mera Peak.
  • The flight to Lukla and the walking fun through the beautiful Himalayan landscapes blended so well with the lush vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park.
  • The cultural delights of Khumbu Valley, where trekkers can experience the authentic Sherpa culture and their wonderful hospitality.
  • The floral and faunal biodiversity of Sagarmatha National Park, which is the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • The wilderness in the isolation of Hinku Valley, which is dramatically peaceful compared to other places in Khumbu crowded with scores of trekkers and climbers.
  • The climb from Mera La (5415m) on the northern face to the Summit, which is gradual with an outstanding mountain panorama of the Eastern Nepal Himalayas always in sight.
  • The view from the summit of Mera Peak offers exceptional viewsof Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Cho-Oyu (8,201m/26,906ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Makalu (8,463m/27,766ft), Kangchenjunga (8,586m/28,169ft), Nuptse (7,855m/25,770ft), Chamlang (7,319m/24,013ft).

Reaching the pass Mera La (5,415m/17,766ft) allows us to see spectacular views; we then descend 100m (328ft) towards the Hongu side and set up base camp in the moraine below the ice and we overnight in Mera Base Camp.

Day 11:

Climb to Mera high camp 4 hrs trek
Altitude: 5,750m

From the high camp a well acclimatized party will take 3 - 4 hours to the central summit of Mera peak. If time and conditions permit we may opt to make the traverse to the slightly higher north summit. This excursion adds 2 -3 hours to the day, which is  more technical in nature than the rest of the climb and the decision is  to whether as we attempt this will be taken by the trip leader. From the summit can be seen the magnificent views of Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029ft), Cho-Oyu (8,201m/26,906ft), Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Makalu (8,463m/27,766ft), Kangchenjunga (8,586m/28,169ft), Nuptse (7,855m/25,770ft), Lubuche (6,145m/20,160ft), Chamlang (7,319m/24,013ft) are spectacular from the summit.
