Kathmandu- Lukla Flight and trek to Phakding

35 minute Trans Himalayan flight

Altitude: Lukla at 2800m/9184ft & Phakding (2652m/8698ft)

Distance of walking- Approx of 8 Km- 3 to 4 hours

We drive to airport early in the morning to take our flight to Lukla (35 min flight) and meet our other assistance trekking crew there and start our trek. Today, you will take an easy walk passing through Chaurikharka village and make a descent towards the Dudhkoshi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkoshi River until Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) where we estimate for overnight today. First day is short walking and we staying lower than Lukla height for this night so it helps to acclimatization.

Day 03:

Phakding - Namche Bazaar

Altitude: 3440m/11283ft

Distance of walking- 10-12 Km - 5-6 hours

Morning breakfast at Lodge at Phakding then start walking for a slightly longer day to Namche Bazaar. At first, the trail crosses Dudhkoshi River over a long suspension bridge, then walking through beautiful pine forest. After about 2 hours of leisurely walk, we will reach to Monjo and soon thereafter, we will be at the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park, where we will check our permit (make permit), then short descent to the Dudh Kosi river again passing lots of Mani stones and in scripts and shortly reach to Jorsale, the last stop before heading up hill to Namche. Since no tea house is available from Jorsale to Namche Bazaar portion, we will have to have our lunch here.

From jorsale, across the river again with long suspension bridge, then short walking through the riverbank brings you to another deep suspension bridge which is known as a HILLARY SUNSPENSION BRIDGE. Crossing this bridge connects you to the big hill which required a tough walk all the way up to Namche Bazaar.

Little more than half walking to this hill, there is a rest point which gives you a first glimpse of Mt. Everest, it is just amazing.

Namche Bazaar is the gateway to Mt. Everest and is the main trading centre of this region. This day, you will overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 04:

Namche Bazaar- Rest and Acclimatize

Altitude: 3440m

Acclimatization Day

Today, we will spend a day in Namche Bazaar, resting and allowing our bodies to become acclimatized to the altitude of (3,440m/11,283ft). The best acclimatization hike we could recommend for this day is to Everest View point which is approx of 2 hours uphill, the great view of Mt. Everest and Khumbu Himalayan panorama.

You may just explore Namche Bazaar, visit its Sherpa museum- a great place to learn Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering and if this happens to be Saturday, you would have a wonderful local market (Hatt Bazaar) at Namche Bazaar, it is interesting and a wonderful experience about how the locals do exchange their goods or buying their requires stuff for the market itself. Namche Bazaar, itself is a tourist shopping hub with all the required trekking and mountaineering clothing and equipment. O/N at Namche.

Day 05:

Namche Bazaar-Tyangboche

Altitude: 3870m/12,684ft)

Distance of Walking- Approx of 10 Km- 6 hours

After having our wonderful stay at Namche Bazaar with acclimatized, we will again continue walking to our ultimate goal of onward to Everest Base Camp route.

Today after breakfast we start our trek with pleasant walk through mountain ride, enjoying with magnificent view of mountains on the right. The great view of the mighty peaks of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde peak with view of the eastern snow capped mountains.

Short descent brings us to the riverside, across the river and then prepares to walk over the uphill through the forested path, the walking is gradual ups with couple of steep up and continuous uphill to reach to Tyangboche(2 and half hours) for overnight.

Tyangboche, one of the most beautiful places in the Himalaya, which is famous for its amazing views of Ama Dablam Mountain and the Tyangboche monastery itself.

The Tengboche monastery is one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries of Khumbu region, your guide will take you to see this monastery surroundings, chant with Buddhist monks, enjoy the praying ceremony. O/N at Tyangboche.

Day 06:

Tyangboche - Dingboche

Altitude: 4440m

Distance of walking: Approx- 11 Km- 6 hours

Breakfast at Tyangboche, then will start walking of this day. The trail descends down winding through the rhododendron forest to Deboche and crossing a bridge over the raging Imja Khol River. Hug the valley wall, and then traverse the plains to Pangboche village which is the biggest settlement village of Sherpa peoples, it has a great chance to see the typical Sherpa peoples, culture and traditions.

If you interested, you may plan to have lunch here and while the lunch is preparing (takes approx of 30 minute), take a short hike to the monastery over to hill at Pangboche- probably the oldest monastery of Khumbu.

Walking onward to Dingboche from here is mostly gradual uphill, the vegetation got changed thus we are now likely to see the dry and deserted mountains. O/N at Dingboche.

Day 07:

Walking onward to Dingboche from here is mostly gradual uphill, the vegetation got changed thus we are now likely to see the dry and deserted mountains.O/N at Dingboche.

Day 08:

Dingboche - Lobuche

Altitude: 4928m/16, 164ft)

Distance of Walking: Approx of 11-12 kms- 6 to 7 hours

From this day onward, the trek is gradual up hill; due to the altitude it is harder and tough. However till reaching to the Dungla, the walking is mostly gradual and after here to the top of the hill to the memorial stupas of the climbers who lost their life’s while trekking and climbing over to the Khumbu Himalayas, the trail is steep incline thus it is a tough up hill.

Another short walk from this hill top following a walking over rugged mountain route brings us to the small settlement of this hill top at Loboje for overnight. The best views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse are just incredible. The day and night expected to be pretty cold here. O/N at Lobuche.

Day 09:

Lobuche- Gorakshep & Everest Base Camp- Gorekshep

Altitude: (5,160m/16,929ft) at Gorekshep, EBC at 5364m

Distance of walking: Approx of 9-10 Km- 6 to 8 hours

First walking from Lobuche onward to Gorekshep is easier. Hiking from Gorekshep to Everest Base Camp is mostly straightforward; the trail wound in and out, rocky dunes and moraine, little ups and downs along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier before eventually stepping out onto the glacier itself. Explore this wonderful part of this amazing Himalayan glacier surroundings, visit the Khumbu ice fall etc and enjoy your most auspicious time with making best photos and videos.  If this happens to be an event of the expedition seasons, you would likely to see the climbers who had their temporary climbing set up at base camp with their tented camps; it even looks the base camp colorful.

Late afternoon, return back to Gorekshep and overnight.

Day 10:

Gorekshep- Kalapathar- Pheriche

Altitude: Kalapathar at 5545m/ & Pheriche at 4320m

Distance of walking: 12-13 Km- 7 to 8 hours

This day required an early walk up as we will head to the Kalapathar (the back rock hill top) by the morning to see the most amazing sunrise panorama over to the Mt. Everest (8848m) and its entire surroundings Khumbu Himalayas. The great view of Mt. Everest just in front of you is just incredible. The other great Himalayan panorama surrounding the Mt. Everest are, Pumari() chantse, and Lingtiring & south col on the left and Nuptse, Lhotse sar etc on the right.

Enjoy this moment, as it is the best opportunity to photography and video the Himalayan Shangri-la. It could be freezing cold so make sure that you are warm enough with your clothing.

After amazing time over here, return back to Gorekshep, breakfast and pack up your bag and get ready to walk back to Pheriche for overnight. Heading down now, the going is easier and the pace faster. Take back great memories with you and walk down hill towards the Pheriche. O/N at Pheriche.

Day 11:

Pheriche- Namche:

Altitude: 3440m/11,284ft

Distance of walking: 13-15 Km- 7 to 8 hours

The walk from Pheriche to Tyangboche to the river valley is mostly down and easy then required an hour climbing over hill, this is the same way while you were trekking from Namche to Tyangboche.

alking to Namche is nice and pleasant. O/N at Namche.
